HE’S BACK – and about time, too!
Fa’Luffy has done far too much lazing around and cushion-eating lately, and has neglected his ever-important duty of putting up his reviews. Getting a large, round, fluffy dragon to step it up is not easy unless you know his motivations (which, thankfully, I do).
Having put this off for too long, it’s now time to reveal the next Fa’Luffy review–coming to you in the form of a game that’s packed full of FUN!
Today, Fa’Lufy will review: Super Mario 3D World
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Nintendo and 1UP Studio
Platform: Wii U
Rated: G for General/ E for Everyone
Genre: Platform
Q: What’s it all about?
Fa’Luffy: It’s the newest instalment in the Super Mario series, and this time Peach is not the target for Bowser’s usual kidnapping antics! Instead, the dastardly King of the Koopers has invaded the Sprixie Kingdom and taken captive all the sprixies! It’s up to Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad to work together and rescue the poor little things.
Q: Who would enjoy this?
Fa’Luffy: Anyone who enjoys playing platform games (particularly the Mario series), those who like to play solo AND/ OR shared screen multiplayer, and anyone who is looking to have some serious fluffalicious FUN!
Q: What are some of your favourite aspects?
Fa’Luffy: The graphics are clean, bright and colourful. There are new and oh-so-fluffa-awesome power-ups (CAT SUIT!!!). The level designs are FANTASTIC and very creative! You can choose between 4 different characters (and later an unlockable 5th), each with unique abilities that give various advantages on certain levels. You can activate other people’s “ghost miis” and follow them around on levels to find stars of stamps you’ve missed (or for the more competitive, you can try and beat them to the flag!) Overall, the game is relatively easy (meaning less fiery rage cushions are spat at the TV), and is just pure FUN! Just check out some of these screen shots!
Q: What are some of your less favourite aspects?
Fa’Luffy: As with most Mario games, there are levels that are more difficult than others. In Mario 3D world most of the levels provide the perfect balance of fun and challenge. But there are some levels … oh grrrr … they are of the devil! Also, I do not like time-limits. Never have. Never will. You get a decent amount of time to complete most of the levels, but then there are the “100” second levels. A couple of those are easy! The others … *commence fiery cushion-spitting*
Q: How would you sum up your opinion?
Fa’Luffy: Flaffaliciously enjoyable, tight, and brilliantly structured gaming experience! Worth every cent in this fluffy red dragon’s opinion. As good as the Mario Galaxy games, maybe better (or on par – mmm, haven’t thought too much about it actually). Either way, it’s a SUPER FUN FLUFFALICIOUS game and one I thoroughly enjoyed!
Q: What is the final Fa’Luffy Verdict?
Fa’Luffy: Out of a total of 5 Fa’Luffy Stars:
Q: So the Fa’Luffy stamp for Super Mario 3D World is …?
Fa’Luffy: Obviously …!
And there you have it, fellow gamers! The Fa’Luffy has spoken – Super Mario 3D World is approved! So if you have a Wii U, and are a fan of the Mario franchise and/ or good, solid platforming gameplay, then this game is definitely worth checking out!
Have you played a game, watched a movie, or read a book that you think Fa’Luffy would enjoy reviewing? If so, feel free to send through your suggestions. If the Fa’Luffy finds it interesting, the Fa’Luffy will put up a review!
